HONOLULU, HI, YORKTOWN, VA, & BETHESDA, MD — Instant Teams and Yellow Ribbon Fund, Inc. have launched a collaborative scholarship program to enable military spouse caregivers to complete Instant Teams Academy training and develop their remote work skills. Instant Teams Academy provides students with the experience and connections to secure flexible, remote job opportunities through the Instant Teams platform. In total, twenty students have joined the Academy through the Yellow Ribbon Fund partnership this fall. The first cohort of ten students will graduate this week before heading directly into the Academy Career Course for their penultimate learning experience prior to securing employment. The next cohort of 10 launched their 10-week reskilling coursework in either Business Development or Digital Marketing earlier this month.

Yellow Ribbon Fund is a veteran service organization that provides housing, transportation, and caregiver & family support to severely wounded, ill and injured post-9/11 service members from every branch of the United States Military, following unexpected medical crises. Founded in 2005, Yellow Ribbon Fund is one of the first veteran service organizations to recognize the importance of keeping the family together during the critical recuperation phase. Now, through this partnership with Instant Teams Academy, a workforce acceleration program operated by Instant Teams, Yellow Ribbon Fund will extend the support for military families by empowering caregivers to secure remote, flexible jobs, enabling them to achieve financial independence and have flexibility to provide care.

“The military spouses and family members who care for sick, injured, and wounded warfighters have enormous responsibilities on their shoulders. They are often the sole financial provider for their families and must care for their wounded spouse as well as children and other families,” said Gina Harrow, Executive Director at the Yellow Ribbon Fund. “This partnership with Instant Teams Academy will enable these individuals to secure remote work. With new jobs they can provide for their families and still have the flexibility they need for doctor’s appointments, school pickups, and whatever else comes up.”

Erica McMannes, founder and COO of Instant Teams, also commented that, “The military caregiver community is an underserved group, and we are eager to support their career development in addition to their independence through this partnership with Yellow Ribbon Fund. In addition to the financial independence and flexibility they’ve achieved through the program, the caregivers who have graduated say that finally they have something for themselves. We’re excited to have the Yellow Ribbon Fund as inaugural partner, and to bring the skill training, workforce development, and remote employment opportunities we provide to the military caregiver community. We are excited to build partnerships of this kind with non-profit organizations and Instant Teams Academy to magnify the impact on military-connected families.”

Together Instant Teams and Yellow Ribbon Fund aim to graduate 100 military spouse caregivers by the end of 2021, and have a projected $5,800,000 impact on the independence and security of veteran and wounded Service member families.
