Employee Spotlights

My Success on a Remote Team: Sara’s Story

“What Instant Teams understands is that military spouses want to work. The fact that their founders are military spouses and part of our tribe means that they get the challenges.”

I’d heard about Instant Teams (previously known as MadSkills) through various military channels and then saw a job posting. I was hired for a virtual contract position as a QA software tester. They run in two week sprints and give me a set of test procedures.  I run through all of the tests on different browsers and report back my findings. I have a computer engineering degree from Syracuse University and I worked in the industry for almost ten years before marrying my Army husband and having a little one.

What Instant Teams understands is that military spouses want to work. The fact that their founders are military spouses and part of our tribe means that they get the challenges. Moving all the time and not having family in the area for childcare makes working a traditional full-time job in an office not always practical for us. This job couldn’t have matched up better for my family. The company I’m working for is really wonderful; I can get all of my work done on Saturdays and Sundays when my husband can watch our son. And, I’m using my skill sets and contributing financially to our family.

Companies really should hire more military spouses. We are experts at multi-tasking and flexibility in various environments. We are able to handle a wide range of responsibilities!

Working with Instant Teams has been really great. This has been my first experience working from home, and Instant Teams has made it so easy. Everyone that I’ve worked with has been so nice and very responsive to any questions I’ve had. Being a part of the Instant Teams family goes beyond just the job. I’ve received emails about career development opportunities, health and wellness support, and so much more. It’s really wonderful.”
